WORDplus
WORDplus is a foundation course in Biblical and systematic theology. It is pitched somewhere between GCSE and "A" level in its content, but the assignments are voluntary!
WORDplus is taught on 5 Saturdays from October through to May the following year.
WORDplus is a two-year rolling programme and applicants may join the course at the start of Year One or Year Two. Sorry, but we don't accept people joining the course part way through a year. Students are asked to sign up for one year at a time. Students who complete both years will have been taken through all TEN SESSIONS of the WORDplus curriculum.
The dates of the next course are:
8 October 2011, 26 November 2011, 28 January 2012, 24 March 2012 and 26 May 2012
The subjects covered:
The subjects covered in this coming year are the second five modules of the WORDplus curriculum - so new students will be joining year TWO, which is fine. Those students can then sign up for year ONE the following year. Among the subjects to be covered in this coming hear are:
- Doctrine of Salvation, Person of Christ, the Resurrection
- The New Testament, Ephesians and Spiritual Warfare
- The Kingdom of God and the Church
- Eschatology - the study of the future
The day
Each training day is a full day of lectures - usually without any worship and only a few short prayers. Typically there are six hours of lectures.
Those who teach aim to make the lectures engaging and point to the application of Biblical Christian beliefs to both individual and corporate life.
The teaching is given by leaders from the Newfrontiers churches spread across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Middlesex and Surrey.
Typically we have about 50 or more students and we welcome any members of your church.
The coffee break (with pastries) and the lunch break provide opportunities for friendships to be developed between people from different churches.
The venue:
This coming year the venue will again be Jubilee Church's excellent building in Shepperton. For directions click here.
Apply:
An A4 sheet giving this information and a tear-off slip to apply is available by clicking here:
Applications should be sent in with a cheque for the full fee - unless you negotiate to pay by installments!
All applicants are asked to get confirmation that they are recommended for WORDplus by asking an elder (or church leader) to countersign their application.
The course is run by:
Andrew Ryland (Beacon Church, Runnymede) and Phin Hall (Harvest Church, Alton) on behalf of the Newfrontiers churches in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Middlesex and Surrey
